Girl Dinner Wine Pairings
Girl dinner is all the rage right now, but at Sip Better, we've been slaying the snack game for much longer than any trend! If you find yourself deep in the girl dinner algorithm, allow us to provide some excellent wine pairings to go with whatever light, noshy meal you tuck into. Enjoy!
THE DINNER: Hummus + crudité, pita chips, handful of Castelvetrano olives, a sleeve of shortbread Girl Scout cookies
THE WINE: Seméli 'Feast' White
This white is lipsmackingly fresh! With notes of lemon, honeydew, honeycomb and summer florals, it’s the perfect companion to a Mediterranean inspired snack plate. The racy nature of the wine cuts through creamy hummus and completes the summer vibe of crunchy veg and briney green olives. Round that out with two or three (or ten) buttery shortbread cookies and you’re all set for a light dinner, preferably on a balcony at sunset.
THE DINNER: Slices of fresh mozz and tomato sprinkled with salt, hard boiled eggs dolloped with mayo and maybe a caper or two, sliced salami, a few strawberries
THE WINE: Days of Youth Wines by Folktale Winery 'The Diver' Sparkling Rosé
Nothing screams summer like fresh mozzarella with tomatoes, and this sparkling wine is HERE for it! The dry yet juicy pink brings a welcome fizz and acidity to the richness of cheese and cured meats, and its notes of strawberry shortcake, kiwi and cherry make it great with fresh red fruits.
THE DINNER: Cubed watermelon, chunks of feta, tiny pickles, potato chips + Top The Tater
THE WINE: Richvale Pool Party Rosé
Poolside girl dinner, anyone? Have a picnic in the sun with this pink and a spread of both rich and fresh summer morsels. This wine’s notes of strawberry, citrus and pomegranate are the perfect balance for handfuls of salty chips dunked in sour cream and onion dip. And when you need to cleanse your palate, Pool Party’s full-bodied richness plays well with juicy watermelon, pickles, and tangy feta cheese. Now back to the floaties!
THE DINNER: Caesar salad, chicken nuggets, sliced nectarine, personal butterscotch pot de crème
THE WINE: Stolpman ‘Uni’ White Blend
Uni White is a stunning blend of Roussanne and Chardonnay grapes. It’s somehow creamy and decadent (from the Roussanne) with an elegant and zippy foundation (from Chardonnay). And while this white would be ideal with raw fish, we think a savory salad with a scattering of crispy nuggets straight from the oven are also a perfect pairing! Toss a few slices of stone fruit on the plate and finish the bottle off with the kind of creamy dessert you want all to yourself.
THE DINNER: Cold pizza, leftover egg rolls, handful of cherries, brownie
THE WINE: Field Recordings Pizza Party
Notes of raspberry, rose petals, and cherries make this Gamay just right for pizza night…or the day after? Clean out your fridge and pile your plate with cold red-sauced leftovers, some shiny Bing cherries, and a gooey brownie to finish. Alternate bites with sips of this red and you’ve got the perfect Friday/Sunday/Tuesday movie night. Cue up Widow’s Bay!
